Shore Fishing Pills: Practical Tips to Avoid Mistakes
Observations and advice on the main mistakes that are committed in bottom fishing from the shore
In shore fishing we often find ourselves having to make choices that inevitably reverse the result of our catch. While every fishing session is different, there are fundamental principles that are important and must be followed. In this way we will have real guidelines on which to set our fishing action.
Shore Fishing: Cast Far or Close?
Most anglers are convinced that the farther you can cast the bait, the better. In fact in the shore fishing that is absolutely not true, especially in the summer months, when even the most prized fish such as bream and bream moving close to playing. It is good to be aware of the morphology of the seabed in which we are fishing, in order to make the most of it. If we are in the summer it is useful to take a ride in the water with the mask.
The mixed bottoms, characterized by bands of sand mixed with rocks, are always the best ones, as they host large quantities of organisms that the fish are looking for. If we are fishing in a seabed of this type, we are going to place our bait in the strip of sand close to the rocks. If, on the other hand, we are on a totally sandy beach, we recommend the use of two rods, one to probe the area immediately behind the step of the wave, and one as far as possible, and then shorten the distance until we find the ideal point.
Recover the Bait
When to retrieve the bait? Knowing how to answer this question correctly means determining the fate of our shore fishing for good or bad. In reality, the answer changes depending on the season we are in and the bait we are using. It is necessary to start from the principle that the fish are attracted both by the movement of our bait and by the smell that this emanates once launched into the water. When these two factors (smell and movement) are missing, the effectiveness of our bait will drop dramatically.
If we are fishing in the summer months, the water temperature will be high and the odor emanating will spread very quickly, while in winter this process will be significantly slowed down. For this reason, in the first case it is advisable, unless there are signs of bites, to retrieve the bait every 15 minutes. In the second case, however, every 20-25 minutes. Retrieving the bait after 2-3 minutes as many anglers do is totally useless and will just be a waste of time.
Change the Lure
What to do? For the aforementioned reasons, even if our bait is intact, in reality it will have already lost much of its attractive power. For this reason, in shore fishing, unless the bait (such as American and bibi) is still full of liquid inside, it is recommended to replace it with a new one.
Reuse of the Frame
At the end of the catch, lead, knot and swivel (rinsed) can be returned to our fishing box. Instead, we avoid keeping the hook and even worse the whole armrest. This is because, although it does not appear to be visible, in any case the point of the hook will be damaged, even only in the phase of priming with the needle. However, it is good to check in subsequent releases that the swivel still turns well, because if it were not so you would run into endless wigs. The armrest, on the other hand, will be “stressed” by the launches made and could present slight imperceptible injuries which would then lead to sudden breakages.
